Hello, I'm Rhiana Laws
Water & Movement for Health Artist
Hands in the soil, feet in the river. Cultivating curiosity, connection and care – with a creative twist.
I believe in the healing power of nature. Choosing to work predominantly outdoors, I embrace the seasons to support living in alignment with natural rhythms and cycles. I recognise that creating opportunities for people to slow down, pause, notice and connect with themselves and their environment is powerful medicine.
I believe in the transformative power of the arts. Using creativity and movement to calm the nervous system, brainwaves, breath and mind I work with direct understanding of human physiology, harnessing the power of somatic practices to improve confidence, self-belief and inform positive coping strategies.
The beauty of being seen. Being seen positively can have a tremendous impact on an individual. Public events, photographic galleries and film documentation offer participants and communities the opportunity to celebrate, remember and maintain beneficial states and practices explored beyond the life of a project.
My foundations...
Rooted in 20+ years delivery and facilitation experience in community, prison, education and health & social care settings, my practice supports individuals and groups navigate trauma, challenge and life extremes through indoor and outdoor projects on land and in water.
I trained professionally in Contemporary Dance (BA Hons Dance Theatre, Laban, 2001) and continue to evolve my approach through a deep experience base of movement, choreography, behavior communication, trauma informed practices, Janzu water therapy, water dance and facilitated circles. I am inspired to support individual and community creative, physical, mental and emotional health.
